Coastal care and cleanup in Ghana.
This project did not start as a conservation project. It started as a documentary.
During the filming of Territorio Africano, a Gauchos del Mar expedition across the African continent, the team arrived at Cape Three Points, Ghana, and met Eddie Adamah Zamba. From that encounter, a bond with the coastal community was born that, once the film was finished, they decided to maintain.
WHY CAPE THREE POINTS
Today, alongside the community, Eddie organizes beach cleanups throughout the area and works on hygiene and health education. Once a month, he transports the collected waste to a recycling plant.
At Marejada, we support this work with funding and logistical support. We also contributed to building a space to store the recovered plastics before their transport.
The next stage will be to support the construction of dry toilets. In a community that still lacks sufficient sanitation infrastructure, many families use the beach adjacent to the village, which creates hygiene and health problems. Dry toilets, accompanied by community education efforts, can offer a concrete and sustainable solution.
