URUGUAY

Marine Protected Areas

Uruguay committed to protecting 30% of its marine areas by 2030, but today only 0.7% are protected.
The creation or expansion of MPAs (Marine Protected Areas) is essential to safeguard the native flora and fauna that inhabit them, as well as to ensure their continued existence for the future of the planet and future generations.

The country has committed to
reach at least 10% of MPAs in the coming years.

We want to help and will document the entire country's coastline to highlight areas already successfully protected and, through audiovisual communication, promote the creation of new protected areas.
