MADAGASCAR

The house of the whale sharks

It has mega biodiversity areas with unique flora and fauna that are under threat.

Around 90% of the species here are found nowhere else on Earth, including the country's iconic species, the lemurs.

This unique island is socially, culturally and environmentally

interconnected in a wide and diverse range, but at the same time these are the greatest threats that

presents, such as social inequality, overexploitation of its resources, loss of local culture and lack of awareness

Without basic needs met, people need to survive and readjust to new ways,

and that puts its entire ecosystem at risk.

At sea, whale sharks and corals are at risk, while on land their endemic fauna and

ancient forests due to logging.
