PENINSULA MITRE NATURAL PROTECTED AREA
IN ARGENTINA
Nowadays there are fewer and fewer virgin places left in the world.
The documentary "PENÍNUSULA MITRE" helped bring visibility to a little-known place, and with the collaborative work of NGOs and local politicians, in addition to the PETITION created, 350,000 hectares of land and 680,000 hectares of sea were able to be preserved forever.
TODAY THE MITRE PENINSULA IS A PROTECTED NATURAL AREA
The Mitre Peninsula is Argentina's largest carbon capture site.
350,000 hectares of land and 680,000 hectares of sea, divided into the Mitre Peninsula Provincial Natural Park, are protected forever.
It is a key location for the fight against the global climate crisis.
Ninety-five percent of Argentina's peatlands are located in Tierra del Fuego province, and they are largely concentrated there, where 45% of the area is peat. The carbon naturally captured by peatlands is a fundamental mitigation tool.
